BARGAINING ALERTS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION REQUIRED
BARGAINING ALERT #1 - 08-28-2009 THIS APPEARS IN BARG. REPT #58 AND AFFECTS THE DESCRIBED EMPLOYEES NOW!!!!! Questions were asked to clarify what Benefit Plan retirees who have re-engaged with the company, and ultimately bridge service, would subsequently retire under. Currently the company believes that retirees who bridge service since the contract expiration will be placed on OPEB Lite benefits which provides 50% of current Healthcare Benefits post retirement.
BARGAINING ALERT #2 08-31-09 RETIREE ISSUES - US Mail
The news is arriving in your mailbox and there are two distinct concerns in the mailing. One set of figures if for non-medicare eligible and the is for medicare-eligible retirees. Make sure you are looking at the right information
Immediately the drug plan takes another major hit with the out of pocket nearly doubling before you pay out and reach the minimum pay. The fees across the board are going up and this letter does not show 30, 60, or 90 day options. If mail order is going to be automatic 90 and the retail 30 then the price difference might make some sense.
On the medical plan the concern is that the free option is going to be a HMO. For non-medicare retirees a HMO might work till the become medicare eligible. If you are medicare eligible you need to be very careful because if you go on a Medicare HMO you use it alone. If it does not work out as you expected there can be a problem restarting your medicare again.
While each situtation is different, be very careful in your choices in Oct. when this information hits us.
Bargaining alert #3 10-14-2009 - Bargaining remains in recess with the union team on call till the company comes back with a reasonable offer. Dist. 6 has reached a tentative agreement which leaves us sitting on the pole trying to come up with a settlement. We can plainly see the attitude of the company when they keep draging out the process and saying that untill we accept their negative proposals on things like prem techs the wage and benefit offer will remain substandard compared to the rest of the country. Keep the faith while your bargaining team members work hard to get us a fair contract.
